The Park of the Former Abbey of Étrun:

Located in the heart of the village of Étrun, awarded the Village Patrimoine® label, the park of the former abbey is home to a château and the oldest house in the village. This historic site provides a peaceful setting for walking and exploring local heritage.

In 1815, Cardinal de La Tour d’Auvergne built his summer residence on the remains of a Benedictine abbey founded in the 10th century and destroyed after the French Revolution. The Château d’Étrun and the former gatekeeper’s house, now converted into a holiday cottage, stand within a carefully maintained two-hectare French-style park.

One of the site's most remarkable features is a lime tree estimated to be around 600 years old. Visitors can also discover the remains of the former abbey, the abbesses’ meditation terraces and the gardener’s turret.
