Becoming the World French Fry Champion (no less) is a bit like winning the lottery: to stand a chance, you’ve got to enter! To be in with a chance of being shortlisted and taking part in the competition, you first need to submit your application. Don’t panic – it’s not complicated at all! We’ll guide you through it step by step:

1. Print, read and sign the rules

To enter the World French Fry Championship, you must first read and agree to the rules! You’ll need to attach it into the form a little later ✒️

2. Take some lovely photos and give a big smile

Get your camera (or smartphone) out, flash your best smile and take the following photos to include with your application (max. 10 MB per photo, but there’s no limit to your creativity 📸):

  • A portrait (vertical) photo of yourself against a plain background
  • A photo of your French Fries, sauces or crisps (depending on the category you’re applying for)
  • If you’re a business owner, a photo of your premises (restaurant, chip shop, etc.)

3. Download, complete and sign the appendices

The PDF available for download below contains a number of appendices which must be completed and signed by hand before being attached at the end of your registration form. Please note that not all of them necessarily apply to the category you are applying for! Please check the relevant category or categories at the top of each document… and please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any doubts whatsoever.

4. New for 2026: The Clusius Prize

The Clusius Prize is an optional award at the World French Fry Championship, open to all categories (except for French fry sauces).

It pays tribute to the botanist Charles de l’Écluse, known as Clusius, and showcases the potato in all its varietal, agricultural and culinary richness.

It recognises entrants who place particular emphasis on the flavour of their fries, the choice of variety and the suitability of their growing methods.
This award is separate from the overall ranking and can be won either individually or in partnership with a potato grower.
